Dos & Don’ts of Interior Layout

DO:

  • avoid widows and orphans
  • indent paragraphs
  • adjust margins to allow for crease
  • use the baseline grid

Don't

  • add space between all paragraphs
  • indent the 1st paragraph
  • hyphenate capitalized words
  • push tracking past 20

If you don’t know what these tips mean, then you need a professional designer.

A poorly designed book interior can waste paper and end up costing more to print.

It can be jarring to the reader when design rules are broken.
